Review of Capitalism: A Love Story (2009) by Marcus Y — 26 Nov 2012
Consider me a typical "lefty", I guess. I don't believe in communism or anarchy, or fascism, but I do believe our current system, which in Australia now consists of nothing more than the rich doing favours for each other, and politicians playing vote getting games for 3 years instead of doing any policy work, needs to change.
That might be a strange paragraph to begin with when reviewing any film, documentary or otherwise, but I believe it's important to clarify your views on this thing before commenting on Michael Moore. He's so polarizing that if anyone holds different views to me, they'll have a different experience.
But as for my views on Michael Moore? Well, he says what needs to be said, and that's no exception here. But he's no world expert or go-to guide on the workings of the world. Beneath all of the passion and the commitment he displays, there is still an underlying, unavoidable aim to sell DVD's, and anything he says is likely to be sensationalized.
My verdict: Worth watching, but do your own research afterwards. Educate yourselves.
