Review of Cape Fear (1991) by Scot C — 04 Mar 2011

"Every man... every man has to go through hell to reach paradise.".

The best part about this movie, is Bob De Niro! I don't know how he does it, but he just looks like a guy thats spent the last 14 years in prison. He plays a man with one thing on his mind, revenge! He's tough, charming, but also a loose cannon, with no fear of pain! He gives a very memorable performance. For the film its self, it has good tension and suspense, but for some reason very melodramatic with camera work, editing and the score! It just didnt make sense, and seemed disjointed, not sure what Marty's thinking was here. I think De Niro's character was smartly written, but the plot itself was stuck in a bit of a hole. Not one of Scorseses best, but still gripping somewhat, and entertaining!
