Review of Cape Fear (1991) by Barrie A — 02 Jun 2014
Perfectly fine remake of the 1963 classic. I like how Scorsese fleshed out the characters a lot more here, giving Sam Bowden more of a sleazy backstory to antagonize and to further explain Max Cady's actions.
Maybe lacking in the suspense department. Both endings, different as they are, are suitable, but the 1963 ending is more effective. Pros and cons for both, but both equal in terms of enjoyment.
