Review of Can't Hardly Wait (1998) by Grëg W — 12 Apr 2010
A now cult classic in the high school romantic comedy film genre. jennifer love hewitt, ethan embry, peter facinelli, charlie korsmo, seth green, and lauren ambrose all star in this film, and it follows each of their stories, usually having them all interact at one point or another.
preston (embry) decides to come out with his crush on prom queen amanda (hewitt) at their graduation party. the problem is that amanda has just broken up with her jock boyfriend mike (facinelli), and doesn't want anything to do with guys.
mike, being a jock, is assumed to be a jerk, so he is targeted by william (korsmo), another student who is plotting revenge on him for humiliating him throughout high school. meanwhile, while all that is happening, kenny (green), a wannabe rapper, meets denise (fleming), an ex-friend, in a bathroom by coincidence.
as they go to leave, they realize that the bathroom door handle is broken, causing them to be locked inside for the night. they both resolve their issues with each other, and eventually end up having sex.
while the many many stories may seem overwhelming as I type them here, they jumble together fine, and the film is a decent watch. it isn't anything special, but if you're a fan of this kind of movie, give it a try.
