Review of Can't Hardly Wait (1998) by Thomas P — 20 Mar 2014
Truly entertaining, funny, and even heartfelt at times, seemed to re-energize the teen comedy for the 2000s.
A great whos who of stars that made it big all around this movie - before and after, and they are in their prime here, especially Seth Green, just before his next hit - Austin Powers.
This film rang true and really captured the essence of high school for me - to this day I quote lines and have to then explain the reference..lol.
-I cant feel my legs!!
Great stuff.
It's about the relationships in high school and the concern about them changing with the onset of college.
The filmmakers fought to get the PG13 rating by cutting several edgy scenes - see the movie title on wiki and find this section- Crying Drunk Girl.
Hilarious..
The deleted scenes give a glimpse.
But it still was the ramp for the next crop of teen flicks like American Pie that started a year after this came to theaters.
So, my dream is this - they get a directors cut.
It would still be funnier and less vulgar than all the American Pies put together..
This captures the high school party scene rather accurately, and with an entertaining smirk.
Quite entertaining.
4 out of 5.
