Review of Can't Hardly Wait (1998) by Jordan K — 11 Apr 2014
A mediocre teen film where a bunch of high school seniors get drunk, have sex, and get more drunk. The odd thing about it is it's not as awful as I just put it, but it tries extremely hard to be popular with teens of the late 90s.
Like I put it, a group of jocks, hotties, and nerds all plan to achieve their last moments of high school fame at the biggest teen film cliche ever, the "big party". Kids get drunk, have sex, get drunk again, repeat, but the characters are likable (well, some) and it holds together pretty nicely.
It's not perfect, but Can't Hardly Wait is in there with the other teen movies. It's ridiculously outdated if you watch it today, just the poster looks like it was made by the year 1998. However, like I said, the characters are fun, at least the main ones excluding Mike Dexter (who was a whiny jock throughout the whole film). I especially liked the nerdy William and the "white guy who tries too hard to be black", Kenny. But it's outdated, its plot is poor (even if it does have scenarios that seem real), and it's just kids partying. It's not incredibly fun, but teens will like it.
