Ahh I remember the first time I watched this, must have been about 8 years old and it scared me senseless, sleepless nights, scared to go to the bathroom, the whole shaboodle. It wasn't until years later that I plucked up the courage to watch it again, and you know what? It still scared me, and that proves to me that it's a movie worthy of the score I have given it.

I find not a great deal of people have seen this one but I take pleasure explaining to them what it's all about. IN A NUTSHELL it centres around a journalist Helen (Virginia Madsen) who hears of an urban legend regarding a ghoul called The Candyman, say his name 5 times into a mirror and he will appear behind you, breathing down you're neck and with a bloody hook for one hand will murder you brutally then vanish as quickly as he appeared.

Now there have recently been a spate of murders in a nearby neighbourhood and the word on the street is the blame is being put on poor Candyman. The cheek of some people, they can't put it on someone who doesn't exist can they? So our heroine Helen decides to delve a little deeper into what's been going on over there, yep, you guessed it, she also says his name 5 times into a mirror.

Based on a short story (The Forbidden) written by the British master of horror Clive Barker, it really is a great all round horror film. Tony Todd is petrifying as the hook handed slayer, and the haunting classical musical score is unforgettable, I still get goosebumps when I hear it.

If you're looking for a movie to add to the Halloween scariest, I dare you to give this a try. Trust me as well, you won't dare look in the mirror for weeks after sitting through it, and popping to the loo will become a whole new experience!
