Review of Candy (2013) by Mars D — 28 Feb 2009
Candy was a real turning point for Heath Ledger in my eyes..Before this movie I didn't really know he could act. Seeing him in this movie made me want to view other works with him such as Brokeback Mountain-which is also a beautiful film.
Candy is a relentless downer and can be painful to watch. The movie's lack of thrills makes us focus on what Ledger does so well, lure audiences into depths of his pain.
The movie's mix of love and addiction is a bit reminiscent of the movie Requiem for a Dream.
The film does have some definite unrealistic tendencies.
