Review of Dogville (2003) by Mars D — 16 Aug 2013
Dogville is quite original. The play and theater approach to the set and the chapters set the viewer up for something more light than the normal cinema experience. It is delicate in its presentation with John Hurt narrating but the storys bleakness and its decline into darker places is a strong tug.
In the end I hated everyone save for Grace (Kidman) and was happy to see the destruction of everything. Philosophically we are made to question the actions of everyone in this story and we ask ourselves what we would have done.
Aggressive behavior brings on more aggression. People should be accountable for their actions...The film is quite long for what it is...a play.
