Review of Candy (2006) by Christine B — 03 Jan 2009

Heath Ledger and Abbie Cornish are excellent as Dan and Candy, as is the inimitable Geoffrey Rush as their professor junkie friend Casper, but this movie is so sad and dark that it's hard to watch.

I don't understand the allure for Heath to want to make it. I've read that this movie, followed by his darkest role ever in The Dark Knight led to his depression and insomnia which contributed to his tragic death which is part of the reason I wanted to watch it.

..to try to understand where his head must have been at. Sad is the only word I can use to describe this movie experience.
