Review of Calvary (2014) by Daniel M — 28 Apr 2014
On the positive side there was really smart writing and some terrific performances. But the story gets dafter half way through when there's a fire and a silly gun incident (why do we have to have guns?) The central plot is also a bit far fetched as there is no record of a violent response to sexual abuse by clergy in Ireland that I know of.
The second last scene is unnecessarily graphic and to me, sadistic. It really annoys me how directors are gratuitous with violence!
