Review of Calvary (2014) by Nickthecritick — 27 Aug 2022
A beautiful drama built around the figure of a parish priest, an extraordinary Brendan Gleeson, surrounded by questionable characters with sins to confess and crimes committed and yet to be committed in an Ireland that is aesthetically as beautiful as ethically wild.
A strong epilogue for the protagonist as well as for the spectator who observes and reflects. John Michael McDonagh's best movie. Great directing, great acting and great cinematography.
