Review of Calvary (2014) by Lewis E — 26 Aug 2014
'Calvary' is in essence a series of conversations examining deep personal issues, most of which revolve around religious and spiritual perceptions of the film's characters. Despite comparisons, it is different to 'The Guard' because of its more serious themes and the fact there is very little comedy to speak of.
Patience is required to stick with it till the end after its initial strong introduction but the delicacy and sensitivity that has gone into writing this can be appreciated. Not for everyone.
