Review of Call Me by Your Name (2017) by Tim M — 04 Jan 2018
Well over a year ago after watching a film seen by almost nobody, 'Miss Stevens', I called Timothe?e Chalamet a talent to watch. 'Call Me by Your Name' is where he takes a starring turn in a film which frankly made me uncomfortable.
An older man comes onto a 17 year old in this day and age. Armie Hammer is playing a character who is a doctoral student and is 24 years old, but looks like and is in his 30s. While the chemistry they have is awesome, Hammer, who plays Oliver, didn't work for me.
If this was Alabama and it was a straight couple, the critics wold be ripping it. I can't believe how hypocritical people are. The defense is the age of consent in Italy is 14. Michael Stuhlbarg, as always turns in a wonderful effort.
The final act is what makes the movie. What a final scene. Stay until the final credits are complete. Final Score:6.5/10.
