Review of Call Me by Your Name (2017) by Davey L — 06 Jan 2018
A movie that broke my heart and healed me at the same time. Beautifully crafted by the director Luca Guadagnino. Timothée Chalamet's acting brought the character Elio vivid and alive. His very last shot by the fireplace made such a spiritual connection with me.
He's tear brought me in tears; his bitter smile brought me to smile; and the last gaze to the camera (to the audience) has made my heart skipped a beat. Timothée's performance in this movie deserves to be ranked among the top performance of the year.
Lastly, Michael Stuhlbarg's final monologue has brought me (and the rest of the audience) to the emotional climax. His every word, which was taken straightly from the book, has touched me and fulfilled a part of my life where I was never able to make peace with.
This is, in my opinion, the most memorable movie of year. Salute to the actors and Luca for this astonishing job!
