It's so elegant and sure of itself. I was blown away with the opening thirty minutes, it was an excellent first impression. As the expository music and brief glances into scenes cooled down into proper film chapters, that unique initial charm wore off, but what remained was still an amazing movie.
It felt nostalgic, but dangerous. Exciting, but calm. The performances were great, the cinematography was excellent and the score was absolutely fantastic. And the dialogue transitions between English and Italian were so seemless, I don't think enough people are giving it credit for that.
'Call Me By Your Name' is destined to be a classic.
