Review of Call Me by Your Name (2017) by Dae J — 25 Jan 2018
This is one of the most challenging film I have seen and coming out from the theater, I had a mixed feelings (good & bad). Here's few reasons why.
First, I grew up in conservative/religious background and to see and experience this kind of unconventional story is just flat out wrong, no other alternative views. So this type of mine set hindered me from fully understand & enjoy the story for what it was.
Second, the main theme that plays in the story was the first love, emotions that you feel during the course of the relationship. This is relatable to lots of people but to me it isn't. I had some people that I liked during in my life time and I have never moved forward & expressed romantic feeling towards them. So in a logical term, I know what first love look & feel like but never personally experienced, thus gives me a Blindspot and I have lack of perspective about first love.
After I thought about for few days & talking to some people about it, I appreciate this film for what it want to say & grateful that I took this journey to contemplate and examine myself. Very rewarding film to watch...??
