Review of Call Me by Your Name (2017) by Darren J — 25 Feb 2018
Another shockingly overrated film. Disturbing feeling of pedophilia in numerous sections. The two main characters never showed any sign of true love. Not even close. The script was boring and unnatural.
Armie is cast too old, and Timothy is coming across as way too younger than 17 for comfort. Credit to him for his acting and looking 13 at times. There is no goodbye scene to speak of, and the two get to spend three days together at the end of the film, yet we see virtually none of it, except them getting drunk and vomiting.
Basic plot here: Oliver took advantage of Elio and messed up the kid's life for years to come. It was abusive. I didn't card about any of these people, who simply go swimming in ponds and streams as their only activity.
Insulting plot line from start to finish. Shocked this got many good reviews. Seems to be that any gay themed well filmed movie will do well these days. Timotheé was excellent, but nothing spectacular.
Hammer was a waste in this. And they blurred all the shots of actual kissing. Yet clearly showed other graphic stuff, including a vile moment with a peach. What a waste of good fruit.
