Review of Call Me by Your Name (2017) by Cindy M — 25 Feb 2018
Call Me By Your Name is one of those movies that the audience sits quietly, almost reverently through the credits as they compose themselves to exit the exquisite Italian countryside of 1983 and prepare to reenter their own lives in 2018.
If you recall your first feelings of physical desire, love, desire and the confusion that accompanies those feelings then you will appreciate the acting, writing and directing for so accurately portraying that time in life.
Timothee Chalamet is stunning in his portrayal of Elios, as he discovers himself. Armie Hammer is sensitive, charming and appropriately hesitant as the older man in the friendship. This is a movie to savor as you allow yourself to be lulled into the summer heat, cool river and damp sheets.
