Review of Call Me by Your Name (2017) by Marcia A — 21 Mar 2018
Armie Hammer, while quite handsome, seemed like an even more wooden version of the Winklevoss twins, while Chalamet was wonderful and nuanced. The movie is landscape and detail-pretty, similar to Horse Whisperer or Brokeback Mountain, but unlike those movies I found that this one dragged on and on.
The symbolism of the fruit hits you in the face over and over until one longs for a new metaphor, but it was Hammer's stiffness that made it tedious, leaving an entire character unexplored.
