Review of Caligula (1979) by Jesse C — 10 Mar 2010
The fall of rome and the fall of my own, this 80's take on the despicable terrors of great power falls into the thin frame of a rather aged yet still mischievous Alex from a clockwork orange. Not gonna lie, I saw this because of the Smiths reference and overall it was somewhat terrible.
I think if a modern director was to adapt it they could use a contemporary soundtrack and spice it up more than peter o'toole could offer. Helen Mirren is in the prime of her beauty as she becomes aware of the power, corruption, and lies deep within everyone that takes on the moniker Caesar.
Oh yeah, this film is loaded with fallaces.
