Review of Café Society (2016) by Vikas K — 11 Sep 2016
Jesse Eisenberg excels in movies like this, with material like this. Kristen Stewart is fully convincing as a pretty and charming girl who makes a choice any pretty and charming girl who goes to Hollywood in hopes of striking gold will make.
The supporting cast work really well. Anna Camp has a great turn, it's a shame there isn't much of Corey Stoll, and Blake Lively is superb as well. But the real charm here is Woody Allen. The veteran director has got this kind of movie nailed down.
Lighter in tone than the superb Midnight in Paris, but never devoid of any substance, Cafe Society is a tasteful and engaging rom-com that manages that manages to bring out the best from its cast. Especially Steve Carell.
