Review of Café de Flore (2011) by Pedro F — 18 Mar 2012
Café de Flore is an absolute electrifying spiritual experience: the idea of soulmates travelling through space and time, as if once they cannot merge in a life, they'll cosmically get together in a next one.
I don't know if Valée built the storylines with the intent of fitting Jacqueline's story in Carole's mind but, and looking for the final scene (which left me breathless and with shivers down my spine), I'd say the older story really happened in Paris.
.. and when Antoine's parents crossed the Seine, they somehow took a bit of Vero and Laurent. There are so many subtleties and ambuiguities which might be read in so many ways... well, and that's one of the things that make Café de Flore an absolute masterpiece.
Extra: it doesn't mean to come off as a too-intricate universal appealling like The Tree Of Life, for those who might judge the movie from the other reviews.
