Review of Caddyshack (1980) by Benjamin S — 30 May 2010
There's virtually no story in "Caddyshack," the 1980 comedy classic with ridiculous talent on its roster of actors and its roster behind the camera. And it doesn't matter in the slightest.
This movie takes one simple thing - the game of golf - and uses it as an impetus for a never-ending series of side-splitting sketches involving some of the wackiest, most original characters you'll ever see.
Chevy Chase's philosophical playboy Ty Webb, Rodney Dangerfield's immortal lewd businessman Al Czervik, stuffy Ted Knight as club President Judge Smails, and, of course, Bill "The Man" Murray as Carl Spackler, weed-smoking, gopher-hating golf course caretaker.
Come on, say it with me - "oh, he got all of that!".
