Review of Cactus Flower (1969) by Mikko D — 27 Feb 2009
A lot funnier than I expected. Nikki and I were cracking up throughout. Ingrid Bergman masterfully portrays a series of transformations and Goldie Hawn (this her first film) is incredibly charming. It's 1969 so the clothes are fabulous and with music by Quincy Jones it's a wonderful time capsule.
For a light comedy, there is serious talent here, and there are clever interventions into issues of gender, age and sexuality. I'll admit a soft spot for 60s films but I think this would appeal more broadly.
