Review of Cactus Flower (1969) by Larry S — 29 Mar 2011
I recently went to see Just Go With It starring Jennifer Anniston and Adam Sandler. At the end of the credits it said it was based on the movie Cactus Flower. I had seen Cactus Flower in 1969 and remembered it much more fondly than Just Go With It which I had just watched.
So I rented Cactus Flower to look at it again after all these years. Its still a very good movie. Dated? Yes. But it still has wonderful performances by Walter Mathau, Ingrid Bergman and Goldie Hawn in her well deserved Oscar winning supporting role.
The story fits much better in the 1969 time period than its does today in the new remake. Skip Just Go With It and rent Cactus Flower.
