Review of Caché (2005) by Hiu ? C — 22 Jan 2010
A truly intriguing film. Subtle, quiet, and elegant, it draws you in with questions and nothing in return. The entire purpose of the film remains a mystery to me. Haneke's mise en scene in this film is quite remarkable.
His use of long takes and voyeuristic shots really enhance the experience. And of course there is a key event in the movie that is maybe on of the most unexpected and shocking thing I have ever witness on film.
It's an extraordinary achievement, and while it is truly baffling, I can't help but feel like I've seen something great.
