Cabin Fever is a great Horror film but the sad thing about it is that the movie is a big letdown due to some issues and problems with the film. This is just a fine Horror film to me although Eli Roth could have done something better with the film.

The plot is pretty interesting and it's about five friends who rent a Cabin in the woods for partying and other things during the time when they spend they're vacation there they encounter a hermit and they lit him on fire and during the next few days Karen starts to get infected as well and as the group tries to do a couple of things to prevent getting infected like keeping Karen locked up and quarantined in the shed the group also fear that they will also get infected as well and the local townsfolk are completely unaware of the disease that the group has and the group must do something to prevent getting infected by the flesh eating disease.

I was kind of disappointed with the first Cabin Fever. To be honest this movie was such a big letdown and it's not as good as the sequel Cabin Fever 2 Spring Fever because Cabin Fever 2 doesn't have the issues while the first Cabin Fever has a lot of issues.

This movie could have been so much better and I think Eli Roth needs to direct better Horror movies because this film and the first two Hostel films are really bad I really think Eli Roth needs to think of something better when it comes to Horror movies I should have learned my lesson after I've seen his next film Hostel.

Anyways let's go for the good side of Cabin Fever before we go to the bad side. What I like about the first Cabin Fever is that this film has some of the Horror themes that Cabin Fever 2 is possibly missing and the Horror music is really tense on certain parts of the film.

The scene where Bert encounters the Hermit and he tries to tell him to stay away from him before he shot the leaves on the ground to keep the Hermit away from getting close to him I like the use of the music in that part because the music used in that scene is like the start where the first person encounters another person who is patient zero in catching the disease.

I also like the music used in the part where Bert is being chased by the redneck hunters in the woods after the hunters realized that he is infected with the disease is probably a great idea I like how the music was used when Bert was being chased by the redneck hunters.

Also there are certain scenes where the music is really tense the scene where Paul falls on the ladder and he landed on the water with the infected corpse that already infected the water is really good because the music in that scene is really tense and I like how the music was used in that part so far.

What I also like about Cabin Fever is that the film is also full of incredible gore effects. All the effects by Robert Kurtzman and the two kings of special effects from KNB Howard Berger and Greg Nicotero are incredible all of the effects used in the film by those guys are great and I love the effects of this film from the Hermit's make up until Karen's rotting make up is great and I love the way they worked on the effects that Eli Roth needed for his movie.

There are also lots gruesome and nasty plus gory moments in the film the scene where the Hermit vomits blood all over the car is so icky and nasty at the same time. The scene where Karen's legs started rotting and she also started vomiting blood as the Hermit is one of the most gruesome parts of the movie oh and the leg shaving scene is the most gruesome part of the film that is really hard to watch and the scene where the dog kills Marcy and started eating Karen's stomach is one of the most gruesome parts of the film so far.

What I also like about this film is that the film has some funny moments but it's not a lot as Cabin Fever 2 because this movie focus more on suspense, gore and tension with less comedy and I think the funniest part in the film is the scene where the Old Man from the store said that the rifle is for black people I couldn't stop laughing at that part and it's so hilarious because the way he said that the gun is for black people is super funny even on the last part when the Old Man greets the black people coming in the store is making me laugh so hard and I couldn't stop laughing at that scene when he meets all of the black people and I did like it so far.

What I didn't like about this movie is that the film goes down the hill really fast after a couple of great things. This movie suffered badly from a lot of really bad cliches, Horrendous acting in certain parts, Full of bad pacing issues and a lot of stupid, random and what the hell moments that made me scratch my head thinking "what in the world?" because the movie is so bad during certain moments.

The cliches in this movie are so horrendous and it is true there are lots of bad cliches in this movie and the acting is horrendous in certain parts thanks to a horrible script from Eli Roth which I seriously hate a lot because the acting gets bad due to the horrible script from Director Eli Roth and this also caused the film to have a lot of pacing issues and problems and the pacing is lenghty and slow paced plus it's also predictable.

Also the other thing I hated about this movie is that the film has a lot of stupid, random and what the hell moments. The scene where Dennis started shouting pancakes and started doing karate moves is funny but it's also random and stupid and when I saw that scene I was mainly scratching my head and it made me think "what the hell?" seriously the scene where Dennis started doing Karate moves is so random and stupid it's kinda funny but it's also stupid and this movie really goes down the hill really fast so far sad thing for Mr.

Roth. The acting is ok in this movie although the acting is horrendous in certain parts like what I said because of the script of Eli Roth and I did like Winston in this movie although I still like him better in Cabin Fever 2 and he was completely different in this movie compared to Cabin Fever 2 so far so mainly the acting is ok to me.

Writer and Director Eli Roth could have done something better with this movie I thought it was good but for me it was such a big letdown could have been better so far. Overall Cabin Fever tries to have the potential to be a great Horror movie with a lot of incredible gore effects and graphic violence, really fascinating Horror themes and some neat suspense but in the end the film is a big letdown because the film suffers from a lot of really bad cliches, Horrendous acting in certain parts, pacing issues and so many stupid, random and what the hell moments so this movie is a two thumbs down while Cabin Fever 2 gets a two thumbs up.

My rating for this movie is a 4/10 could have been so much better for your work so far Mr. Roth sorry sir. Well I guess for those of you who wants to see a good Horror movie go for Cabin Fever 2 Spring Fever that movie is way better than this film and I hope the next two Cabin Fever films are gonna be just as good as part 2 and not like the horrendous part 1.

I hope Mr. Kaare Andrews will do a good job with his work on Cabin Fever Patient Zero and Cabin Fever Outbreak.
