Review of Cabin Fever (2003) by Grant S — 15 Oct 2014
Better than the average horror movie. Not that this says much.
Mostly formulaic in terms of progression, the main villain is reasonably original. Plus, the side-plots make it a bit more interesting than most.
Ending is reasonably different too.
This all said, it is predictable enough that you feel you've seen it several times before.
The most perplexing thing is how is Eli Roth regarded by some as some kind of horror genius and get to be endorsed by Quentin Tarantino, no less. Cabin Fever is regarded as Roth's best work and, having seen his other stuff, eg Hostel, I agree with this. Yet this is hardly a masterpiece. Odd.
