Review of Cabin Fever (2003) by Anthony K — 19 Oct 2015
Thoroughly gross, and almost unforgivably stupid, this movie ultimately succeeds (for a die hard horror fan like me) because it is so self-conscious. Hold now - this is the biggest cliche it could have succumbed to, but unlike its horror contemporaries, Cabin in the Woods' 4th wall breaking, Scream-esque winking takes the form of recreating iconic (incredibly recognizable) horror shots in a way that is invisible to the overall film.
