Review of Cabaret (1993) by Steve Allister F — 15 Sep 2009
My favorite movie musical. Its depiction of early Nazi era Berlin is as grim and unsettling as it is wild and beautiful. The musical numbers mix decadence with a dark edge. Minnelli is exuberant, charismatic, and irresistible as Sally Bowles.
Her performance makes the film a masterpiece.
