The chemistry between redford and newman is undeniable and enjoyable.....you can definately tell when the film was made with the way the music sounds, it is made to try and sound like the time, but with hints of the late sixties.
....not saying he did a bad job, obviously, but I feel that if the script were given to a different director it could have had more substance....i think hill tried to hard for it to be an artsy film then just focusing on the characters and the script.
...redford and newman's acting ability kind of bailed him out of a lot of that.....although I do have to give him credit on a great ending.
