Most of what follows is true.

The heat is on Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in the mid west so they decide to catch a train to Bolivia and begin a life of crime where the banks, people, and law are a little simpler. They recruit a school teacher to go with them and teach them Spanish. Initially, it looks like Butch and Sundance will continue to live life in the fast lane; however, all great rides must come to an end.

"You can't want to get blown up again.".

George Roy Hill, director of The Sting, Funny Farm, Slap Shot, Toys in the Attic, Slaughter House Five, and The World According to Garp, delivers Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The storyline for this picture is epic and worth following. The premise is a bit slow paced and the picture sequence in the middle crushed the film's momentum at one point, but the overall story was compelling and fascinating. The acting is stupendous and Paul Newman and Robert Redford are brilliant in this film.

"He's an awful dedicated man.".

Overall, this is not on par with Clint Eastwood's best films (The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly as an example) or even in the same breath as the more recent Tombstone or 3:10 to Yuma pictures; however, it is an all time great "buddy" picture. Redford and Newman play off each other perfectly and deliver characters that are now iconic. Their larger than life performances make this picture a must see and worth adding to your DVD collection.

"Whatever they are selling I don't want it.".

Grade: B+.
