Review of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) by James L — 22 Aug 2011
I liked this film. However, it was a tad too light-hearted for my taste, especially when it comes to westerns. That isn't to say that it doesn't work for the film. Rather it's the opposite, it works perfectly.
It's just not my cup of tea. Paul Newman and Robert Redford give superb performances in one of their collaborations. The story follows the legendary Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid on their adventures.
They rob banks and trains, get chased by lawmen, and have the time of their lives. The characters themselves are what made the movie for me. The way Newman and Redford play off one another is fantastic.
The soundtrack is, in my opinion, way out of place. The song "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" was made famous by this film, but I could see it used better in countless other films rather than this one.
Overall it's a great dual character piece set in the west.
