Review of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) by Anthony I — 29 Jul 2015
It falls short for me as true western and a watchable comedy, but without a doubt, Butch an Sundance is a classic. It's a well filmed, well conceived, greatly acted film that replaces grittiness with cuteness, with an underlaying, sad longing of the simplicity of the past.
It was a breath of fresh air to see this film appear after the dawn of a new violent revolution of movies. The film famously cuts before we see the final bloody shootout. The beautiful soundtrack by Burt Bacharach is also great to listen to.
