Review of But I'm a Cheerleader (2000) by O-Darlee ? — 10 Jun 2008
This was a great idea for a movie satire on homosexuality. It definitely had some funny moments, but it did not live up to its potential. Which is a shame, b/c this could have been a REALLY great movie with the proper execution.
Still, the point of the movie is there, and eight years later I'm not sure the majority of people are any less educated about homosexuality. It is enjoyable. An interesting sidenote for me is that this movie used the great 1960's song by April March, "Chick Habit" as the song over the intro credits.
Seven years later, Quentin Tarantino would use it over his ending credits on "Death Proof." Maybe he does steal ideas after all.
