Review of But I'm a Cheerleader (2000) by Nathan C — 01 Apr 2009
Though it has moments of hilarity as well as moments of feeling and poignance, this movie felt underdeveloped. There are a lot of unexplained bits and jumps, and some of it is downright clunky. It plays like a greatest hits CD rather than a full album.
It also suffers from too much anti-conservatism, turning many of the characters into straw men.
However, I give kudos for making the heroine a Christian and for all the parts that did ring true. Not enough to overcome the abrupt jumps and conservative-bashing, but it is still a cute and entertaining comedy.
