Review of Bus 174 (2002) by Sam I — 19 Mar 2007
Overlong and a tad unfocused though it is this 2 hour plus documentary from Brazil tells a riveting tale when it concetrates on the main action, the TV footage of a bus hijacked by a young gunman and the police response.
The biograpical information on the young man; Sancho is less interesting and leaves you waiting to get back to the bus but there's some excellent background on why he would be so scared of getting caught.
It's not among the best recent documantary films (a genre that's given us some really compelling cinema these last few years) but it's interesting enough to recommend to fans of the form.
