Review of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (2007) by Brent L — 11 Feb 2008
Based on the book by Dee Brown, this made for television drama tries to faithfully recount the book in telling the story of how the Sioux nation were displaced from their land and farmed off into reservations following the decisive battle of little big horn.
Although well acted, the film lacks the conviction of the book, and glosses over much of the detail in the book, and perhaps could have been made into a longer film or serialised. The docu-drama feel of the film does work, and the main characters are well acted, especially the character of Charles.
Well worth watching.
