Review of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (2007) by Keith T — 26 Aug 2008
Dee Brown's book covers the period from 1860-1890 and ALL the Native American Nations. This film concentrates very much on just the fate of the Sioux in the 15 years after Little Bighorn. It is quite good at what it sets out to do, but it would have needed at least a mini-series to fully do the book justice.
In many ways, "Soldier Blue" and "Little Big Man" still remain the better treatments of the story of the United States' inability to keep faith with any treaty it concluded with the original inhabitants of North America.
