Review of Burnt by the Sun (1994) by Eric H — 12 Oct 2011
I never realised this was a true story until the very end, although 'story' is being rather charitable as almost nothing happened in the whole 2.5hrs. The cinematography was always pleasant, the actress playing Nadia was very good (especially in the Blue Danube scene which was probably the most enjoyable part), the subtitles seemed well translated and always clear.
However, the 'comedic' elements with the guy looking for Zagorienka were very slight indeed and the budgie sounded more like an Ewok. By about halfway I was wondering how much more there was left.
Only for the very patient.
