Review of Burnt (2015) by Kelly V — 15 Nov 2015
The critics lost the plot on this one. It's a funny, charming foodie tale with a style reminiscent of classic Hollywood fare from the good old days.
It has all the tropes: the jaded hero, boy meets girl, baddies, a lovable gay guy, failure and redemption and so many more. This amusing, lively affair bounces along and warms you up nicely. It ain't surprising but it is satisfying. I sniggered and I sniffled at all the expected spots and my companion and I had a thoroughly entertaining time. Did I mention the food porn? I'm off to Attica in Melbourne immediately to get me some.
