Review of Burn After Reading (2008) by Russell B — 17 Feb 2012

This is kind of what would happen if the Cohen Brothers' disastrous remake of "The Ladykillers" had been any good. It's a much darker comedy than the ads would lead you to believe, but it's still very enjoyable.

Some of the plot elements are very surprising and some of them, frankly, a little out-of-place (too much darkness creeps in around the edge of the flick toward the end), but JK Simmons' performance is just electric and he really saves the picture from slowing down too much or getting too dark.

In only a few scenes he brings this froma three- to a four-star flick (out of five).
