Review of Burn After Reading (2008) by Ken S — 15 Apr 2014
After the very serious "No Country For Old Men", which finally earned the Coen Brothers their well-earned Best Director nod from the Oscars (as well as Best Picture), the Coens return to form a bit here.
Since "Intolerable Cruelty" the Coens hadn't created a completely original film, all their work had been based on something. This is a completely original work, and feels more like "Fargo" mixed with "The Big Lebowski".
It is hilarious, with a fantastic cast working well under the sharp script and direction of the Coen Brothers. Pitt is great, Malkovich is great, McDormand is great, Clooney is great, as his the machine he builds.
A wonderful flick with that Coen flair.
