Review of Burke & Hare (2010) by Paul P — 26 Nov 2010
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...
Take a great cast and a once great director, give them access to the dressing up box and enrol them at Dick Van Dykes School for Unconvincing Accents and set them to work on an awkward, inept, uninspired script, under the banner of Ealing Studios, home to some of the greatest British comedy movies of all time...and you still can't believe just how bad this movie actually turns out.
Awful performances by a who's who of second (at most) rate british actors (presumably the ones that the Harry Potter franchise wasn't interested in), a tone that veers from pantomime farce to social commentary via bloody murder and a truly terrible script, devoid of a single laugh or even a smile inducing moment all add up to a very bad night at the movies. Avoid.
