Review of Burke & Hare (2010) by Steve B — 06 Oct 2011
This movie is set against an old fashioned gloomy Edinburgh, top hats and new innovations in medicine. The backdrop reminds me of the likes of 'Sherlock Holmes', 'From Hell' and 'Sweeney Todd'.
A dark movie with a plot line about making money and a living from death and more detailedly, murder as Doctors were in the need for fresh corpses to experiment with for upcoming students. To lighten the movie to a dark comedy a comic cast stars, Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis take the lead roles, with Jessica Hynes, Stephen Merchant, Tim Curry, Hugh Bonneville and Ronnie Corbet to name a few, as a supporting cast.
Some amusing scenes but the actors just bring smiles along with their presence alone.
