Review of Buried (2010) by Raymond W — 22 Dec 2011
For a movie that takes place in nowhere else but a wooden coffin buried somewhere, this is compelling stuff. "127 Hours" had a similar claustrophobic premise but in that movie you see how he got there and you also see flashbacks. In "Buried" the only thing you see is Ryan Reynolds in a dark box. The only other people in it are the voices from his cellphone.
Ryan Reynolds, as a US army soldier serving in Iraq, is very convincing as he panics and hopes for his rescue. He really captures the fear of being in that dark box with little oxygen or room to move around.
Whether he gets saved or not, I will not spoil. But one thing's for sure. I do not want to be buried alive.
