Review of Bumblebee (2018) by Dharma — 19 Jan 2019
Wow...this is so weird. Did I just watch one of the best Transformers movie of them all? Yes, we all did. Bumblebee is supposed to be a side story for the Transformers series, and coming out of the debacle that was the Last Knight, audiences seemed to be turned off this franchise for good.
Well, if they can deliver this quality...then there are more reasons to continue this franchise for good. Director Travis Knight delivers what Bay never did: a coherent and charming storyline, and golly gee.
..actual acting chops to the film thanks to Hailee Steinfeld. Action sequences have a sense of geography, and non nauseating. Transformers designs hail back to its original root; clean designs that allow us to discern what is going on the screen.
These are the sort of things...that a proper film should have. Instead of gobbled up sequences that Bay has produced over the years. What a great surprise.
