Review of Bumblebee (2018) by Sunder L — 05 Jan 2019
May be for the first time in the franchise, they tried to tell a story rather than placing the story just as a kicker for the action scenes. Bumblebee has always been the favourite among the Transformers and Travis Kinght has maximum utilized that liking to the advantage of his movie.
Though not perfect, Bumblebee brings a freshness to franchise. The movie runs along with the naughtiness of the character and offers and enjoyable experience. Though the character arc of Charlie is pretty generic, Hailee Steinfeld has given a pretty good performance thus giving storytelling a steady flow.
And John Cena is there but hasnï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)t got anything to do apart from being the commonly seen army officer in this genre. But the director kept the focus of the movie on the right characters and the correct path, which makes us give a pass to all these cliches.
All in all, Bumblebee has helped a lot to grease out the dislike that the last few movies has bought to the Transformers series and in that process gives out a charming and close to perfect origin story.
