Review of Bumblebee (2018) by Ar%20 I — 29 Dec 2018
This was such a good movie! As a soft reboot of the franchise, not a prequel as many people seem to think, it features a realistic, rounded, sympathetic female protagonist and too many G1 references to count. The first 5 minutes or so, in which we see pre-war Cybertron and G1-accurate characters with designs lifted straight from the original show, is a full buffet for any fan of the Transformers franchise. And of course, the star character, Bumblebee, with a revamped design that is superior to his Bayverse counterpart in every way-- looking small and cute and round, inspiring a fierce need to protect him from every bad thing that, unfortunately, happens to him in this movie.
All in all, with no spoilers, a wonderful and refreshing change of pace when it comes to Transformers, and a delightful return to what makes the franchise so appealing to those who love more than Michael Bay's movies.
